CAPS Summer Day Program

What is CAPS?
Our Christian Activities Program for Summer welcomes children from our community and congregation in a summer long Christ-centered activities program.  The program includes devotions, field trips, games, crafts, parties and service projects.  We have four summer staff members who do all the planning and work daily with the children.  Our transportation includes two 15-passenger vans and carpooling chaperones.

The CAPS program will be held for children who will be entering grades 1 - 5 during the 2013/2014 school year.  The program will be designed to give children a safe, structured, Christian environment during the summer while they are out of school.  Parents may sign up their children for all 5 days each week, or they may sign up for 1 day a week, whatever fits your family’s schedules for summer.

This year’s CAPS staff is a team of women who are or have been involved in children’s ministry, are school professionals, and who have led summer camps in previous years.  The goal is to have fun, have a place to keep reading skills up over the summer months, have hands-on activities to continue learning over summer, and a place to build some healthy relationships with other children.  Each day of CAPS will begin with Christian lessons or devotions on the child’s level.  The goal of the CAPS team is to have theme weeks, such as cooking week, music week, sports weeks, etc. to correlate with their daily devotionals.

Children should bring a sack lunch each day they attend, and afternoon snacks will be given each afternoon.  There will be a quiet time each day for reading or resting, so rest and reading items may be brought each day.  The CAPS team will instruct the parents as to what each child should bring with them each week, such as during water week, a swimming suit and towels may be required.

There will be field trips and the staff will inform parents of the dates and places they will be visiting during the summer.  June Calendar of events.  July Calendar of events.

Parents need to be sure to read everything on the registration form, list allergies, medicines that will be required while we have your child, and any dietary needs for the child.

If you have any other questions concerning the program, feel free to call the church office and your questions will be directed to the correct person for the information.

For parents who work outside of the home, there is an extended childcare time available for a small fee each day.   There will be 2 qualified childcare leaders in charge each day.  If there is a need for care before 9:00 am, arrangements may be made with the CAPS team leader in advance.

Thank you for considering Wesley Chapel CAPS  as your childcare choice.
