Saturday Devotion
They call the Kentucky Derby the fastest two minutes in sports. Read 2 Timothy 4:7. As many of us in the Louisville area turn our attention to a horse race, let us be mindful of the race of faith. Paul wrote, “I have finished the race.” Paul is describing his journey of faith over a period of many years. Paul has remained faithful to the gospel and the calling of Christ Jesus. He took the opportunity to encourage Timothy and also us to remain faithful to Jesus through the race called life. One day, the race will be over. As the garland of roses is placed on the winning horse today, remember that by God’s grace through faith, we can have the assurance that we will receive the crown of righteousness.

Dear God, give me the endurance to have faith at each stage of the race so that I may finish with faith in you.  Amen.
